Bad beakfast experience

It is unmistakable that the hotel is getting old. Although it is clean and well-maintained, perhaps it should be completely renovated. We had booked a suite. This was large and clean. Two electric radiators served as heating - a bit out of date, but at least effective. The beds were large and comfortable. But the breakfast offered was absolutely impossible for a 4-star hotel. Where in the Novotel Manchester there is at least freshly baked white bread, a large selection of pastries, delicately baked and seasoned mushrooms and at least salted butter, in the Novotel Sheffield there is only toast, two types of pastries and for the English breakfast the mushrooms are straight from the can , just warmed. The butter ran out at 7am the first morning. From then on there was only margarine, initially served directly in the sales packaging and then at least repackaged in a porcelain bowl. Even when asked, no butter could be offered, not even the next morning. The Novotel Sheffield's disappointing dilemma ran through the entire breakfast offering. It is incomprehensible to me that no management here ensures that an offer adequate to the star qualification is available. I cannot recommend the Novotel Sheffield and will not visit it again.

Lost a bit of it's appeal !

Stayed 7 years ago in this hotel and loved it at that time. Now back again and got a different feeling. Good points are : room is spacious, no noise from the street, good bathroom towels and of course still the perfect location in the centre of the town ! Minor points are : toilet works in a strange way, room carpet tired, breakfast choice is not sufficient and quality should be better, breakfast room floor and tables are sticky ... so overall too expensive for what you get !

She was able to reassign us while we were on a group business trip, despite the fact that our rooms had been cancelled because of a misunderstanding with our supplier. On arrival reception not very helpful, very dated Executive Room, paid over £400.00 for 2 nights. Confusion with the signs to make up room, which ended up my partner having to reuse wet towels as he was due a business meeting, so did not have time to contact reception Signs should show make up my room or do not disturb.

A man entered my room at 1am.

I don’t have anything good to say about this hotel stay unfortunately. I had got back into my hotel room at around midnight and decided to call it a day. I would say I was just starting to get off to sleep when I hear the door to my hotel room open and a man came in supposedly thinking this was his room. I was startled. A huge error from the hotel which led me to not sleep for the remainder of the night of fears something like that would happen again. This was to apparently be followed up but I haven’t heard anything from the hotel themselves. What apparently happened was I was not properly checked in by the hotel staff when I arrived at around 3pm. My room was then supposedly vacant and so another man took it and was able to get in while I was asleep. Very, very disturbing. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone and I have yet to hear from any staff member that sympathised with me for the trauma that I endeavoured.
